Bargaining update for AUPE Locals 041, 043, 044, 045, and 046, Alberta Health Services Nursing Care
As of 7:55 a.m. on November 19, 2025, the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) has officially served strike notice to Alberta Health Services (AHS) and affiliated employers, including Recovery Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta, and Allan Gray for their AUX Nursing Care. This action follows unsuccessful mediation and an employer offer that fell short, especially on wages. *This does not include Covenant Health.
AUPE’s wage proposal aims to recognize the vital contributions of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides, offering meaningful improvements that reflect the realities of our work. But wages aren’t the only issue on the table.
Key unresolved items include:
Professional development days
Scheduling preferences and on-call rules
Mileage reimbursement and benefit eligibility
Removal of banked overtime limits
Recognition of professional fees and insurance
AUPE has made it clear: there’s still time to reach a fair deal. But if a strike proceeds, members must be ready.
